Introduction to the Department of Ocean Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Ocean Mechanical Engineering offers a comprehensive curriculum focused on mechanical engineering principles and their applications in the marine environment.

The department currently boasts 15 dedicated full-time faculty members and an enrollment capacity of 45 students. Each year, approximately 25 students successfully complete the four-year undergraduate program, with many of them continuing on to pursue the one-year Advanced Courses to obtain the Licensed Mariner (3rd Engineer).

Graduates of the undergraduate program are highly sought after by shipbuilders, engine manufacturers, and other maritime-related industries. Those who earn the Licensed Mariner typically embark on careers as crew members on a wide range of vessels.
